This article describes the development, design and validation of the Leadership Archetype Questionnaire (LAQ™), a 360° survey instrument designed to help organisational leaders to identify their leadership style in teams. The LAQ™ is based on eight leadership archetypes which represent different ways of leading in a complex organisational environment. It may be used to provide means for developing an executive team in which multiple leadership archetypes are represented.
