The Personality Audit (PA) is a quantitative personality assessment tool that gives you a deeper understanding of yourself and how you interact with others. It was developed to clarify executives’ various motivational needs. Using a psychodynamic approach to leadership, the PA allows you to assess yourself in seven personality dimensions and to identify personal blind spots. The resulting insights can be used to formulate appropriate leadership development goals.
The seven personality dimensions (presented as polarities) are:
1. low/high self-esteem
2. vigilance/trust
3. laissez-faire/conscientiousness
4. self-effacement/assertiveness
5. introversion/extroversion
6. low-spirited/high-spirited
7. prudent/adventurous
You and three to five observers complete the PA (including significant others and superior and subordinate colleagues). These different perceptions help you to learn more about your leadership style and to further your personal development.
