This was the second annual conference of its kind, totally devoted to family business topics. The conference was led by John Davis and organized by HSM, a global conference company. His presentation was on The Family Business: A Psychodynamic-Systemic Point of View.

  • ISPSO votes for new Distinguished Member - 9.06.2009 The International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations (ISPSO) unanimously voted Manfred F.R. Kets de Vries to become a Distinguished Member.

    This is a rare honour, so far only conferred to three other members: Harry Levinson, Harold Bridger and Gordon Lawrence.

    The status of Distinguished Member is awarded to a member:
    1. Whose work has had a significant and lasting impact on the field
    2. Whose work has been recognized in the wider arena of work with organizations( impact beyond those organizations and journals typically associated with the psychoanalytic study of organizations)
    3. Who has clearly displayed intellectual leadership in the field
    4. Who has acted as an influential teacher and mentor to others

    Harvard Business School colloquium: "How can Leadership Be Taught." Manfred Kets de Vries was a session presenter at this symposium aimed at sharing pedagogical practices to enable the discovery of a wide variety of different approaches to teaching leadership.

    The second ESMT Annual Forum: "Leading in Turbulent Times - Opportunities, Threats and the World Economy" in Berlin had Manfred Kets de Vries as a panellist at the on the subject of Leading in Turbulent Times.
  • International Leadership Association honors Kets de Vries - 12.11.2008 International Leadership Association honors Manfred Kets de Vries with the International Leadership Association Lifetime Achievement Award in Los Angeles, during the ILA annual conference.

    This very prestigious organization was for the first time, honoring "founding professionals in the development of leadership as a field and as a discipline." Manfred was inducted with Bernard Bass & Joseph Rost (posthumously), Warren Bennis, James MacGregor Burns, and Frances Hesselbein -a truly stellar group of leadership pioneers.
